Bullion Mart is thrilled to offer the final release in the Animals of Africa series, featuring the impressive black rhino! These coins were produced by PAMP Suisse in the shape of an actual rhino, and include carefully detailed, almost life-like designs. The first three releases in the series (Nile Crocodile, African Lion, and Elephant) sold out quickly, and it is expected that the rhino will do the same. Now, 2022 1 oz Solomon Islands Silver Animals of Africa Rhino Shaped Coins are available to you for purchase online at Bullion Mart.

  • On the reverse side of the coin is a black rhino.

The African Black Rhino, also known as the hook-lipped rhinoceros, is native to eastern and southern Africa. Although referred to as black, this rhino’s colors vary from brown to grey. While Black rhinos are generally solitary creatures, a strong bond remains between a mother and her calf. Black rhinos have an aggressive reputation and are known to charge readily at perceived threats. Black rhinos have the highest rates of mortal combat recorded for any mammal – they will fight each other as well as other mammals. The variation in the black rhinoceros has been highly disputed among authors and naturalists, but the overall consensus denotes seven or eight subspecies. Three of those subspecies became extinct in historical times and one is sadly on the brink of extinction: According to the IUCN, African Black Rhinos have been labeled Critically Endangered. Make sure to populate your portfolio with this amazing African Rhino silver coin.
