Description
The rare 1 oz silver bar was manufactured by the prestigious Johnson Matthey in the year 1974 for the Western Mint in Canada. The bar features the text ‘PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS OTTAWA’ with the actual depiction of the building. A christmas tree is also engraved. The bottom of the side reads ‘CHRISTMAS CANADA 1974’.
The other side features Woodward’s with its logo, followed by the serial number of the bar. The serial number gives each bar its unique identity. The weight of the bar ‘1 OZ TROY SILVER’ is written below the serial number. One can also see the purity ‘.999 FINE’ engraved there and then the name of the mint ‘WESTERN MINT INC’ is featured.
As Johnson Matthey has ceased their functioning, this bar becomes unique and rare in itself. Manufactured around half a century ago, this bar also earns a vintage status.
