The obverse of the coin depicts Arthur Phillip stepping on the shore of Sydney cove in 1788. The reverse of the coin shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth and the year.
Admiral Arthur Phillip was selected to lead the expedition to Sydney in 1786. He was first governor of New South Wales (1788 – 1792).
