What will your store pay for gold next spring? How much stock should you carry into 2027, and when should the scrap in your safe go to the refiner? Most owners are answering those questions with a guess right now, and gold has moved too much this year for a guess to be cheap.
On Sunday afternoon at the Time & Shine Jewellery Trade Show, Dr. Moniruz Zaman will give jewellers something better to work with. He holds a doctorate in economics and sustainable mining and owns two mining companies. He also founded Bullion Mart, a Royal Canadian Mint authorized dealer in Toronto that refines jewellery scrap every week. He sees gold come out of the ground and he sees it cross the counter, and he is bringing that view to Toronto.
What will you gain from this session?
Start with a number. Dr. Zaman will share where he expects gold to trade in 2027, based on what he sees in mine supply and trading demand, so your spring buying budget can rest on more than a headline.
From there he moves to scrap. You will hear when it pays to hold metal and when selling it protects your cash, which matters to any store with a few ounces sitting in the safe.
He will also cover what to ask for before you pay for metal. This is where double certification comes in, and he will explain which results to request from suppliers and refiners.
The counter benefits as well. When a customer hesitates at today’s prices, certified purity gives your staff a clear and credible way to explain what a piece is worth.
Then comes the Q&A. Bring your own questions about pricing, scrap and suppliers, and put them to someone who mines, refines and trades gold.
