DESIGN

The reverse design by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc features the profile portrait of a roaring grizzly bear. Viewed from its right side, the grizzly’s large, thick-furred head is raised with mouth open in a roar or growl. The bear’s characteristic small fur-covered ears, sharp teeth, and small dark eyes are presented in beautifully engraved detail. In the background, a river roars through a rocky and remote northern wilderness of bushy undergrowth dotted by sparse evergreens. The sky rises above bear and wilderness, hand-polished to a glowing proof finish.
