Description

The Royal Canadian Mint has released a stunning new $50 five ounce fine silver Maple Leaf coin that combines traditional artistry with innovative technology. Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Canadian maple leaf coin’s initial release in 1988, this new edition showcases an extraordinary relief height of 3mm, resulting in a fully dimensional rendering of the iconic maple leaf.

Sculpted by the retired Senior Engraver Susan Taylor, who previously worked under the tutelage of the late Walter Ott, the creator of the world-famous leaf design. This new version of the maple leaf is a testament to the masterful skill of Taylor, who has captured the natural beauty and intricate details of the iconic Canadian emblem.

The reverse of the coin features the iconic maple leaf backed by a unique laser-engraved field pattern that pays homage to the coin’s 35th anniversary. The field pattern comprises seven small maple leaves, each with the number “35,” forming a pattern that repeats five times, resulting in a total of 35 mini SMLs in each ring, representing each year since the coin’s first release in 1988. The pattern repeats on the obverse, which features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The obverse also features a special marking that includes four pearls symbolizing the four effigies that have graced Canadian coins and the double date of her reign.

Limited to just 1,750 coins, this Maple Leaf coin is highly sought after by collectors and investors alike. It is HST/GST exempt, making it an even more attractive investment opportunity. The combination of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology makes this coin a unique and valuable addition to any collection. Whether you are a seasoned collector or a first-time investor, this coin is sure to impress.
