The Beaver Who Travelled Far and Wide

?What makes Canada special?? asked the Beaver as the Loon swam by.

?Hmm, maybe it?s the four seasons that colour the trees,? said the Loon. ?Let?s ask some friends what they think?? So the Beaver and the Loon followed the wind until they stood at the edge of the sea.

?What makes Canada special?? the Beaver shouted to the ship sailing by. Bluenose shouted back: ?The oceans that are our east, west and north!?

The Beaver and the Loon wanted to learn more. This time, they headed west and came face-to-face with the Caribou.

?What makes Canada special?? asked the Beaver. ?It?s this forest,? the Caribou answered. ?The mountains and plains and tundra too. All the spaces that are home to different people and creatures.?

The Beaver was confused. Everyone had a different answer! So the Beaver decided to visit one more friend.

?What makes Canada special?? asked the Beaver while walking across the ice. ?It?s the True North strong and free,? roared the Polar Bear. ?A place where we live and play in peace.?

Now the Beaver was really confused. The Beaver sat and thought about it all day until the moon and stars finally appeared in the sky.

Suddenly, the Beaver jumped up and exclaimed: ?I know! It?s the seasons and the sea. The sky and the land. The people and creatures and all the freedoms we enjoy. ALL these things make Canada special!?

And with that, our friends realized their journey had ended. So they sat down together and watched as the Northern Lights danced overhead.
